Boreham Wood will look to end their pre-season home matches with a victory as League Two Barnet are the visitors to Meadow Park this Saturday.

It will be the last match home before Ian Allinson’s men begin their Blue Square South campaign against Eastleigh on Saturday August 18.

Having already taken on Football League opposition in Stevenage and Watford, as well as playing against Premier League outfits Arsenal, Reading and West Ham United, Wood will be hoping for a strong performance against the Bees- who have escaped relegation from the Football League on the final day of the season for the past three years.

Wood will be without Luke Garrard who will miss the contest due to a hamstring injury. However, the assistant manager will join Allinson on the bench for the contest.

There will be a return to Meadow Park for Barnet head coach Mark Robson. He made 32 appearances for Wood in the 1999/2000 season - a campaign which ended in disappointment as the club were relegated from the Ryman Premier League.

After leaving Wood, Robson went on to have a successful coaching career and worked at Charlton Athletic, Gillingham and Peterborough United.

He took his first step into management earlier this summer when he was appointed head coach at Underhill.

The Bees have suffered mixed results in their pre-season campaign. After a 6-0 victory in their first match against Burham Ramblers, Robson’s men then thumped St Albans City 10-2 at Clarence Park.

However, a 4-1 defeat to Charlton was followed by a midweek thrashing by Watford in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The Hornets ran out 8-0 winners and Robson will no doubt be looking for a response from his side against Wood.

The Bees boss will not be the only man making a return to Meadow Park. Barnet forward Mauro Vilhete is likely to feature against the club he spent time at on loan last season.

During his temporary spell he was a regular scorer as Wood looked to push for a play-off position. However, his impressive form meant the Bees recalled him - only to then leave him out of their match day squads.
