TWO new players impressed during a draw for Radlett last weekend, after disappointing innings by the star performers.
Against Bishops Stortford, Fraser Crawford (117) and Andre Sharma (55) guided Radlett to 270 for nine.
It was a maiden century for Crawford which he delivered at the perfect moment, when Radlett were tottering at 89 for four.
Stortford had taken the early wickets of Nick Fielden and Lloyd Patternott.
The usually reliable Burger was trapped leg before wicket for seven and then Essex target Kabir Toor went the same way for 35.
Crawford and Sharma did more than just recover; together they put on a stand of 135 with glorious stroke play and good running between the wickets.
Sharma was eventually run out for a very well played 55.
Crawford made himself the real star of the show, his dominant stroke play eventually being rewarded with his first-ever HCPCL tonne.
Radlett had 50 overs to try bowl Stortford out but struggled to pick up the first wicket.
Burger and Corran opened the bowling and together created chances, without finding the breakthrough.
Heath Paynter got Radlett’s first wicket when he had Akram caught for a well played 50.
The wicket was playing well and the Stortford batsman made life very difficult for Radlett’s bowlers.
The game filtered into a draw with Stortford ending on 210 for 6 off the allotted 50 overs.
Kabir Toor and Heath Paynter each finished with two wickets as Stortford dug in at the crease and batted out their overs to reach 210 for six.
