Seven boys and girls from Aldenham School in Elstree are celebrating their success at the recent UK Chess Challenge Megafinal held in Stevenage on Sunday.
The winners include the U18 and U17 girls' suprema, the U17 and U16 boys' runners-up, and an U13 and U11 boys' qualifier who will now go forward to the next stage of the competition, the Gigafinal, being held in Wiltshire on July 16.
This year's UK Chess Challenge attracted 74,000 children from 2,200 schools nationwide and approximately 8,000 children took part in the 36 regional Megafinals.
A total of 21 boys and girls from Aldenham School entered the Hertfordshire Megafinal.
