Jack Walker Challenge Cup Quarter Final

Belstone's season of cup-runs continued on Sunday as they eased into the semi final of the Challenge Cup to book a tie with Ruislip Royals.

Belstone took control of the game from the start and were ahead after just five minutes when Giles Arthur got on the end of Billy Sentance's long ball and coolly slotted just inside the post.

Minutes later Phil Merritt, playing in midfield, doubled the advantage by heading home a Paul Yule corner.

Belstone then kept the ball well and created a number of chances, with Paul Yule putting in some excellent balls.

Phil Merritt killed the game off before half-time when the goalkeeper tamely let in his 30-yard effort.

After the break, manager Joe Sheridan had the luxury of taking players off, with Thursday's cup final in mind, and introduced Kevin Yule five minutes in for man-of-the-match Phil Merritt while Matt Cole came off for Nick Turner.

It was not long before they were four goals to the good when Kevin Yule cut in from the right and pulled the ball back for Nick Turner, who passed the ball in from six yards.

Manager Joe Sheridan came on at left back for captain Chris Ingham, who had a dead leg, and Billy Sentance moved into centre back to see out the clean sheet.

John Beschizza rounded off the scoring with a composed finish just inside the left hand side of the area to give Belstone a deserved 5-0 win.

Tomorrow sees the first of Belstone's cup finals, the Premier Cup against Broadfields United at Hillingdon Borough. Kick off is 7.30pm.
