Ramsgate 5
Boreham Wood 0
Ryman League Premier Division
Boreham Wood crashed through the relegation trapdoor with the ignominy of a thrashing at the hands of Ramsgate this afternoon.
With four teams going down, Wood finished on the same number of points as Carshalton Athletic, one place above them.
But Carshalton escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth with Wood's inferior goal difference proving decisive.
Wood needed just one point going into the game to secure their Ryman League Premier Division status.
And so they only have themselves to blame for their fate after shipping five goals, leaving them reliant on the outcome of other fixtures.
Ramsgate got off to an early start, with Sam Jones scoring in the fourth minute, followed by four goals in a nightmare eight-minute period either side of the interval.
A brace from Olly Schulz, one from his older brother Warren and another from Dean Hill saw the home side creep into a play-off position at the expense of Hendon.
Four minutes in Lee Minshull ran from his own half to the edge of the area and knocked the ball out to Stuart Vahid, who crossed low to Sam Jones who slotted behind goalkeeper Noel Imber.
Ramsgate continued to dominate but it wasn't until the 44th minute that they extended their lead.
A freekick by Andy Hadden was headed on by Nick Davis that forced Imber to parry past the post.
The resulting corner, by Dean Hill, found Olly Schulz, who rose above the defence for a bullet header into the net. As the half moved into stoppage time another corner by Hill found captain Warren Schulz, who volleyed in from close range.
After the interval the home side continued their rampage, and within 5 minutes of the restart a Minshull long throw was met by Olly Schulz at the near post, who flicked it with his head past the flailing Imber.
Only two minutes later, clever footwork by Jones took the ball round two defenders before he knocked the ball back to Hill, who rifled his shot into the centre of the goal.
