Arsenal failed to exact revenge on Everton for their League Cup final defeat and also saw their incredible streak of 51 straight league wins come to an end, the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw at Meadow Park, Borehamwood, on Sunday.

The Merseysiders came into the game just five points adrift of Arsenal and set up trying to ruffle the Gunners' feathers early on. Both teams worked hard throughout the game to break the deadlock but clear-cut chances were few and far between.

Kelly Smith went closest for Arsenal in the first half with a fierce strike which flew inches over the bar. Everton's clearest chance was arguably the best of the match, but after an almighty scramble the ball was somehow hooked over the bar from a matter of yards.

The draw maintains the distance between the sides at the top of the Premier League table. Now the Gunners know that eight points from their remaining four games will secure the title.
