Boreham Wood lost for the first time in 15 games, a run stretching back to October 26, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.
Kane Smith’s opener for Wood was cancelled out by a second-half brace from Kodi Lyons-Foster.
Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong then made it 3-1 before new signing Adam May made it a nervy finish for the hosts.
Smith opened the scoring on 13 minutes when his left-footed cross evaded everybody in the box and nestled into the far corner.
Lyons-Foster drew Aldershot level eight minutes into the second half when he powered a header past Nathan Ashmore from a corner.
The centre-back then completed his brace 15 minutes later, connecting with another corner to turn the game around.
Berkeley-Agyepong put the Shots out of sight on 71 minutes, beating his man on the edge of the box before whipping the ball past Ashmore.
Portsmouth loanee May pulled it back to 3-2 with four minutes left on the clock, volleying home after a poor punch from Mitch Walker, but it was too little too late for the Wood.
Luke Garrard’s side stay third in the table despite the loss, but they failed to close the gap on second-placed Harrogate Town.
Next up for Wood is the visit of Hartlepool United this weekend.
