Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson will look to take full advantage of the disarray at managerless Torquay United on Tuesday evening as the Wood face up to another long trip in the National League (kick-off 7.45pm).
Gulls manager Paul Cox resigned on Friday evening less than 24 hours before the Devon side were walloped 7-3 at home by National League new-boys Bromley - the club's heaviest defeat for 20 years.
Director of football Dean Edwards followed Cox out the door on Monday morning after leading a takeover of the club by a consortium of local business' over the summer.
However, all is far from well at Plainmoor with United, five years a Football League side following promotion in 2009, 18th in the league standings.
Both Torquay and Wood have won just two of their 11 games to date and a victory for the visitors on Tuesday night would see them leapfrog the Gulls, moving out of the bottom four in the process.
It is not the first time Wood have made an appearance at Plainmoor. Back in November 2002 the side that were to be relegated from the Isthmian Premier Division at the end of the season enjoyed an FA Cup run to meet the then Division Three side in the first Round.
It was a day to forget for Wood, losing 5-0 and having a player sent off after just 29 minutes, which certainly did little to enhance the big day out.
The Gulls are in their second season in the National League after narrowly losing out to Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers on a very tense last day of the 2013/14 season, when all three sides recorded victories, condemning Torquay to their second spell out of the Football League.
Last season a total of 61 points saw the Gulls finish in 13th spot under former player Chris Hargreaves.
Their first visit top to the top tier of non-league football lasted just two years and was highly productive. The 2007/08 campaign saw them lift the FA Trophy before a run to the fourth round of the FA Cup and victory in the Play-Off Final made it two trips to Wembley in as many seasons.
Two players in the Torquay squad who have played under Cox previously include man mountain defender Exodus Geohaghon and striker Louis Briscoe, both of whom featured in the Mansfield Town side that earned promotion to the Football League under Cox in 2013.
The Gulls also feature two promising young loanees from Bournemouth in the shape of forward Joe Quigley and midfielder Josh Carmichael.
Defender James Hirst, a pre-season signing is the current leading goalscorer with five, whilst another player from Cox's Mansfield Town days, Alex Fisher, has three.
Wood will hope Mustafa Tiryaki receives international clearance from the Turkish FA in time to be included in the squad as they seek to build momentum after their rallying display against high flying Wrexham on Saturday.
