A HERTSMERE borough councillor has raised £5,000 for charity in a sponsored car rally.
Cllr Hannah David, accompanied by a friend, set off on May 22 and travelled for two weeks through Gibraltar, Portugal and Spain as part of the 2011 Bull Run event.
Competitors from all over the world joined the challenge, which requires drivers to get to places by not using motorways or established routes.
Cllr David said one highlight of the trip was meeting the governor of Gibraltar and learning how a population, similar to the size of Borehamwood, is run as a country.
Another memorable moment came when Cllr David got to 'open-up' her Volkswagen Eos on a Formula 1 test rack in Seville.
Cllr David, who met her own costs, will split the money raised between two good causes – a charity for terminally ill children and support for the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme in the UK and oversees.
