POPULAR television programme Dancing On Ice will return to Elstree Film Studios in 2012.

The seventh series will bring the celebrity ice-skating show back to the town, following a year's hiatus.

Filming of the latest Sherlock Holmes movie forced ITV to relocate production of the 2011 competition to Shepperton Studios - all previous series had been made at Elstree.

Managing director of Elstree Film Studios, Roger Morris, said: “When we announced last year that we were unable to accommodate Dancing on Ice, there was almost a public outcry. It is a great series with a dedicated following and we love working with the show.

“This is a number one show for us, as I am sure it is for ITV. We look forward to working with the ITV team to make it really special.”
