TWO childhood friends will be playing the biggest gig of their career at the Isle of Wight festival this weekend.

Wonderlust, made up of lead guitarist Aaron Gardner, 21, from Elstree, and drummer Neville Reyes, also 21, from Borehamwood, will be performing with their bandmates Danny Winslow and Tom Reynolds at the festival.

Mr Reyes, who went to Hertswood School, in Thrift Farm Lane, and Mr Gardner, who attended Bushey Meads School, in Bushey, formed the band nine months ago.

Previously, Mr Gardner spent six months writing songs with Mr Winslow and performing at open mic nights in the area.

Mr Gardner said: “Danny was friends with Tom and he was quickly snapped up to play bass.

“Neville and I are childhood friends, so it wasn’t long before he was called upon to bang the drums.”

The band plays Sixties, mod and Britpop-influenced music with an element of rock and roll and their five-track album titled The Mobius Strip was released as a demo at the beginning of the year.

The band will be playing alongside festival veterans including Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian.

Mr Gardner added: "We are all really excited to play at the festival and are grateful to have been asked to be part of such a prestigious event.

“We have played many gigs in and around Hertfordshire and London.

“We'd like to thank everyone who has supported us, helped with great advice and been there from the very start.

“Our families are extremely proud of us, of course, and enjoy coming to our gigs and being part of what feels like one big Wonderlust family."
