A CYCLING enthusiast from Borehamwood is encouraging others to take part in an annual charity race next month.
The riders will take part in the Capital to Coast Cycle Challenge with a choice of either a circular 60-mile journey on a Hove to Hove route, a Surrey to Hove journey, a 30-mile Haywards Heath to Hove route or one from London to Brighton.
The ride aims to raise money for charity Norwood, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Down’s Syndrome Association.
Father-of-four, Gary Yantin, from Borehamwood, will be taking part in the race with friends Daniel Grose and Simon Berman and will raise money for Norwood.
Sixteen months ago, Mr Yantin’s wife Suzanne gave birth to twins Aviva and Eden and began attending Norwood’s Twins, Triplets and more support group at the charity’s Kennedy Leigh Family Centre, in Hendon.
The group gives parents of twins and triplets the opportunity to meet with other parents.
Mr Yantin said: “I signed up because I wanted to have a motivation to get fit.
“However, I chose this ride because it was important to be able to raise money for such an important charity that is not only close to my heart but provides support to the whole community.
“Having twins can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and the Norwood group is a highlight each week for my wife and two youngest children. I am really looking forward to taking part in Capital to Coast again this year.
“The route is really beautiful and enjoyable, although I am not looking forward to the steep climb up Devil’s Dyke.”
The event will take place on Sunday, July 10. For further information or to register log on to www.capitaltocoast.org.uk or call 0208 420 6944.
