A SUMMER lunch organised by the Elstree and Borehamwood NSPCC committee raised more than £1,000 for the children's charity last Wednesday.
Fifty guests were invited to Elstree Lawn Tennis Club, in Aldenham Road, where new Hertsmere Mayor Peter Knell (Con/Potters Bar Furzefield) got into the party spirit and helped serve the buffet.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Pat Strack (Con/Kenilworth) and Town Mayor Cllr Sandra Parnell (Con/Hillside) also attended.
A total of £1,172 was raised for the work of the NSPCC.
