A CAMPAIGN calling for major safety improvements to Stirling Corner roundabout in Borehamwood is gathering pace.
The Borehamwood Driving Instructors Association (BDIA) has secured more than 250 signatures in an online petition and a further 70 in hard copy from residents in neighbouring Elstree Retirement Park.
The crusade has also garnered the support of local politicians, with Hertsmere Borough Councillor Richard Butler (Lab/Kenilworth) saying he would be walking the streets to get more names on the list.
Cllr Butler said it was “dangerous and not right” that Transport for London (TFL) had switched off part-time signals controlling the flow of traffic on the A1 during rush hour.
He called for, at the very least, the reinstatement of those traffic lights.
The BDIA petition asks TFL to install permanent 24-hour lights at all entrances to Stirling Corner and improve road markings. The petition can be signed at ipetitions.com.
