ALDENHAM Country Park was one step closer to having new management yesterday after Hertfordshire County Council eliminated two of its preferred bidders for the role.

The authority announced in November it would be shutting down the park in a bid to save cash.

A public outcry and subsequent campaign, however, led the councillors to begin a search for someone to take over the running of the park.

A total of 12 bids were received, which were whittled down to five preferred offers last month.

And yesterday (Monday), members eliminated a further two bidders during a lengthy selection process.

A council spokesperson today confirmed that site visits, further interviews and background checks will be carried out on the remaining bidders, the names of which are yet to be revealed.

Councillors are also waiting to establish a time frame in which to make the final decision.
