TWO teenagers from a school in Elstree completed a three-day charity challenge, climbing 15 of the highest mountains in Wales.
Jacob Whitehead, 12, and Will Withyman, 13, of The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, in Butterfly Lane, Elstree, escaped the Royal Wedding to set off for the peaks of Snowdon on Friday, April 29.
Accompanied by their dads, the boys clambered up and down more than 13,000 feet of rocky terrain over a distance of 30 miles.
On the first day, they had a gruelling start, setting off from Hertsmere at 4am, before climbing Snowdon.
On the second and hardest day, they faced five tough peaks and a further seven were completed in extremely windy conditions on the third.
Proud mum Gaenor Withyman, of Gills Hill, Radlett, said: “It was a great achievement and they took it in their stride.”
Mrs Withyman said the secret to the boys' success had been a hearty fried breakfast each morning.
The students managed to raise more than £2,000 for their school's charity, Kidzcare Tanzania, which supports orphans and vulnerable children in the African country.
