HERTSMERE Council's leader has said he wants to keep communication open with residents after gaining a seat in the borough at today’s election results.
Councillor Morris Bright (Elstree, Conservative), said he was “incredibly pleased” with news his party had gained one seat in the borough in Bushey North.
He said: “We’re very tired but very pleased at the result. It was an amazing amount of effort put in by all the candidates.
“We were very sad to lose Penny Swallow who has worked hard for Borehamwood Kenilworth but we’re delighted to get someone like 23-year-old Sam Dobin in Borehamwood Brookmeadow.
“I would personally like to thank the voters of Elstree who kept me in and returned me with a good number.
“The residents are obviously pleased with the council. What’s important now is to keep communication open with the electors. We are not just there when it is time to vote.”
Hertsmere MP James Clappison (Conservative) said: “Overall it is a very good result with the national and the local picture.
“Hertsmere Borough Council is a well-run council and good value for its residents. Borehamwood has a certain buzz to it now with Elstree Studios being owned by the council and the money from that.
“It was an interesting set of results for the borough.”
