Following recent articles regarding Transport for London’s (TfL) decision to withdraw the traffic lights at the A1/Barnet Lane roundabout, it seems utter madness.
The only traffic this helps is those cars either going north or south. Those of us who need to join, or cross, the A1 have to almost “play chicken” in getting onto the roundabout.
If anything, TfL should consider having full-time traffic lights, working on traffic flow. Coming from Totteridge it is actually quicker, and safer, to carry on to the A1-south and go round for the A1-north.
Why is this a TfL decision and not Herts Highways to withdraw the lights?
Additionally, there is no provision for pedestrians to cross the roads and now that Morrisons store is there with no additional help in entering/leaving their car park.
Please continue to promote safer driving with the return of the lights.
