PAKISTAN flood victims will be helped by the Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood through a donation to provide vital aid to the country.
The club have provided a Shelter Box, which cost £490, to send to Pakistan where it will provide shelter for 10 people, with blankets, groundsheets and other items.
At a meeting yesterday the club also agreed to fund the supply of two Aqua Filter Community packs of water, costing £250 each.
One pack can deliver up to 300 litres of drinking water and it removes biological contaminants commonly found in flood water.
The international chairman of the Rotary Club, David Clout, said: “We feel rather helpless at this distance but the international nature of rotary means that we can get aid to a disaster area quickly’”
The president of the Rotary Club, John Page, said: “The club is pleased to be able to join many others in providing help to those whose lives have been destroyed by earthquake or floods.
“If anyone would like to put their donations to good us, please send money to the club and we will use it to provide either another Shelter Box or another Aqua Filter.”
