A parents' group campaigning for a new children's centre in Borehamwood held its launch party in Shenley Road at the weekend.
The group, called Ohana, hopes to set up a new centre where children of all abilities can learn and play together, and launched at the Village Hall in Shenley Road on Saturday afternoon.
Activities included face painting, children's games, Karaoke, a raffle and a tombola, and the event was attended by Councillor Derrick Gunasekera, the Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere.
Organiser Jose Couleras said: "We had a really good day. It was very well attended, and the Deputy Mayor was there and he cut the cake with me.
"We were surrounded by children."
Some of the people at the launch thought Ohana was being set up specifically for children with special needs, but Mrs Couleras said it was for all children: "While we consider special needs children to be a very important part of our work, all our children are special and have different needs."
