An Elstree man beat 330 people to win this year's Cancer Research UK Bridge Tournament.
Jeff Harris from Elstree and his bridge partner, Ellard Roberts from Oxhey, won the 27th Bridge Tournament organised by the charity, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel London.
Cancer Research UK spokeswoman Jacqueline Fitzgerald said: "There were over 30 participants from Elstree and Borehamwood this year. It would seem that the local population not only make excellent bridge players, but are also keen to support the essential work of Cancer Research UK."
Before they left, each finalist was given a booklet, which included details and commentaries by experts, of the bridge hands played throughout the evening. On the evening more than £7,000 was raised, all of which goes to Cancer Research UK.
For information about taking part in the next bridge tournament, open to bridge players of all standards living in and around the Greater London area, visit www.cancerresearchbridge.co.uk or call 020 8950 3857. It costs £40 per pair to enter.
