I innocently went to a delightful Rotary dinner at the Edgwarebury Hotel to celebrate the Presidency Year of Barbara Kennedy.
My sincere congratulations to her on what has obviously been a most successful term in office. My best wishes to Peter Wong Morrow the President Elect on his succession to the position.
To my complete amazement I was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for my work over the years for the NSPCC. It is a great honour which I accept on behalf of all the members of the Elstree and Borehamwood Committee.
Without their faithful backing over the last thirty years I could have achieved very little.
Voluntary workers are the unsung heroes and heroines of our time and fill in the many gaps left by state welfare. My Committee are such heroines and the medal is for them all.
We would welcome more volunteers if you want to be involved in some fun events fundraising for the work of the NSPCC for abused and neglected children. Contact me on 020 8953 1436.
With thanks and good wishes to all Rotarians and my admiration for the many good works they do.
Dr Ann Goddard Deacons Hill Road, Elstree
