A taste of life on the Continent came to Borehamwood recently when a class of French schoolchildren visited Woodlands School.
Children from Borehamwood's twin town Fontenay-aux-Roses visited the Alban Crescent school, sat in on classes and played with pupils.
Headteacher Linda Forbes said they got on well with the Borehamwood children, and made lots of friends. "They spent the whole day in the school. In the morning they were welcomed by Class 7, who had created a little book for them, written in French and English."
The French children were split into four groups, and sat in on classes with their English hosts. They wanted to find out what education was like in different countries, as part of a project they were working on back home.
In the afternoon the children played sports, then they sang traditional French songs, and the Woodlands pupils sang English songs.
Mrs Forbes said the French children enjoyed the visit: "They said it was absolutely wonderful."
Now that the children have made friends they hope to hold more exchange visits, and pupils from Woodlands will visit Fontenay-aux-Roses at some point soon.
