A bumper day out with fun activities for all the family is in store on Father's Day, June 20, the day of the Shenley Fete and Carnival Procession.
Attractions lined up for the annual event include a fun dog show, Morris men, a bouncy castle and inflatable slide, "soft" go-karts, a bucking broncho and much more.
The fun starts at 12.30pm when the carnival parade will leave the Harris Lane playing fields and meander through Shenley village, returning at about 1.15pm.
Mayor of Hertsmere Eddy Roach will then officially open the fete and judge the entries in the parade, including children in fancy dress.
The organising committee, led by Paul Racibowski, has worked hard to improve on last year's event, which itself was the most successful in the history of the Shenley Fete.
There will be several refreshment stalls offering various foods and beverages, and a beer tent will be provided.
Many private stalls will be selling goods and most of the major charities will be represented.
Admission to the event will be free, but people attending are asked to buy a "lucky number" programme costing 50p. There will be a Grand Raffle with tickets on sale at 50p each, and the prizes have all been donated by local businesses.
Organiser Paul Racibowski said he had been overwhelmed with the generosity of businesses. He added that, although he already has a large band of helpers, he needs more volunteers. Call 01923 854871.
