Celebrity Big Brother does not mark the first time that actress Stephanie Beacham has graced Elstree Studios with her classy presence. In my blog today I take a brief look back at two of her previous credits.
As an admirer of the actress and, of course, a fan of Celebrity Big Brother, I am delighted that Stephanie has joined this series as a housemate.
But, as previously mentioned, this is not the first time Beacham has worked at Elstree Studios.
Stephanie played the role of Penelope Brown against Roger Moore's Simon Templar in an episode of The Saint. Entitled Legacy for the Saint, the episode was filmed at the historic studios in 1968.
Beacham return to the complex in the early Seventies to play the role of Jessica Van Helsing in a film called Dracula A.D. 1972. The production was made by Hammer Films and starred Christopher Lee as Count Dracula and Peter Cushing as Professor Van Helsing. Future Bond girl Caroline Munro also appeared in the film.
Incidentally, many of the same production personnel on the film - Roy Skeggs (production supervisor), Philip Martell (musical supervisor) and A.W. Lumkin (recording director) - would also work at Elstree Studios on the three On the Buses spin-off films made there between 1971 and 1973.
Stephanie, however, is facing a different set of circumstances during her return to Elstree Studios - and this time Dracula is no-where to be seen!
According to Digital Spy website bookmakers have reportedly seen a surge of bets on Stephanie Beacham to win Celebrity Big Brother.
I personally would love to see the actress, best-known for her role in Dynasty, emerge as the winner of what could be the last-ever series of Celebrity Big Brother. So fingers crossed that my fellow CBB viewers will continue to enjoy her stay in the compound.
