THE Conservatives swept the board this evening to win all three by-election seats.
Rabbi Alan Plancey won the county council seat for Borehamwood North with 982 votes. His Labour rival and ex-leader of the Hertsmere Labour group Leon Reefe narrowly lost to him with 928 votes.
Liberal Democrat candidate Robert Gamble received 170 votes and Independent candidate Frank Ward received 125 votes.
Conservative candidate Charles Kelly won the town council seat for Hillside ward with 608 votes.
Rivals Frank Ward (Independent) received 314 votes and Labour candidate Anthony Scott Norman received 128 votes.
Also this evening Conservative candidate Tugay Sevincli won the borough council seat for Potters Bar Oaksmere. He received 679 votes with his Labour rival Paul Pierre Tengwo receiving only 207.
