Starring Sigourney Weaver, Alien (which won an Oscar for best visual effects) went on to inspire three film sequels and even two crossover films.
Ridley Scott, original Alien film director, his brother Tony Scott and Michael Costiganis are reportedly being lined up to work on the new film. It is not yet known who will star in any new addition to the legendary film series.
Research on the internet has revealed that a man called Jon Sorensen lived and slept in a studio dressing room whilst working in the visual effects department on Alien at Elstree Studios back in 1979. This, apparently, was the same dressing used by Christopher Lee during the making of some of the Hammer horror films at Elstree. Now that's why I call dedication! But if only The George Lucas Stage had exsisted back in those days, some of the dressing rooms in the two-stage block are said to be better than some hotel rooms!
One only hopes that makers of the new Alien film will consider returning to Elstree Studios to shoot scenes for the new film production!!
