Grassroots sports facilities are set to be transformed in Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere after local organisations were awarded more than £34,000 in funding.
The government recently announced grants worth £68 million to be spent on creating and improving more than 1,700 sports facilities across the UK.
In Welwyn Hatfield, the biggest beneficiary of this is set to be Welwyn Garden City Youth FC. They have been awarded £3,141 to spend on storage at Ridgeway Academy.
The following applications were also successful in Welwyn Hatfield:
- £1,853 towards goalposts at Welwyn Playing Fields for Welwyn Sports & Social Club FC
- £1,440 towards goalposts at Ridgeway Academy for Welwyn Garden City Youth FC
- £1,080 towards goalposts at Coldlands Park for Welwyn Garden City Youth FC
- £694 towards goalposts at Woolmer Green Recreation Ground for Knebworth Youth FC

Meanwhile, in Hertsmere, the following applications were successful:
- £1,200 towards goalposts at King George V Playing Field in Furzefield for Potters Bar Crusaders Youth FC
- £25,000 towards pitch maintenance equipment for Borehamwood Youth FC
