Harper Lane, London Road, and Elstree Road all reopen to drivers

Harper Lane in Radlett, London Road in Shenley, and Elstree Road near Elstree were all fully open by yesterday evening (October 21).

The longest-running closure had been Harper Lane, which had been shut by the junction with Watling Street since September 27.

It was because of damage caused to the railway bridge that runs over the Thameslink line, after it was struck by at least one of the vehicles involved in a head-on crash on the bridge.

Although the road is open for now, there will be some night-time closures to contend with as Network Rail finishes repairs.

The bridge is set to be closed between the hours of 10pm and 4am on each of October 24, 25, 26, and 27.

Elsewhere, London Road has reopened by the junction with Harris Lane after Affinity Water completed repairs to a burst water main.

Holes were dug across both sides of the road and residents living in nearby New Road will be relieved after having to deal with drivers cutting down their road as well as travelling the wrong way down the one-way street.

Meanwhile Elstree Road has reopened between the A41 and Heathbourne Road.

A burst water main caused flooding on the roundabout between Elstree and Bushey earlier this week and repairs were needed in Elstree Road.
