Bus services could be improved following a review by Hertsmere Borough Council officers.
Concerns about the area's buses were raised at a meeting of the authority's housing and environment scrutiny committee in October last year, and a report was published last week. The recommendations include ensuring officers from the council be involved in the decision-making and route planning process of subsidised bus routes in Hertsmere. It was also suggested that before the contracts for 2009/10 are negotiated with bus companies, Hertfordshire County Council should introduce an electronic ticketing system on routes to allow the council to have accurate passenger usage information.Another idea was for the borough council to work in partnership with bus operators and organisations such as Connexions to help groups including young people who are not in mainstream education.
