Armed police were in Borehamwood yesterday after a man said he had a handgun on him.
Officers were called to an address in Brook Road at around 10am (May 24).
A spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a man alleging to be in possession of a handgun at a property in Brook Road, Borehamwood.
"Officers attended, alongside specialist armed policing units.
"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of malicious communications.
"Officers conducted a search of both the suspect and the property, and no weapons were found. No one was injured."
Armed units in Hertfordshire also responded to incidents in St Albans and Hatfield on the same day.
A machete was seized after police were called to Sandpit Lane and a man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon.
Meanwhile, police received a report that a male had been seen putting a suspected gun into a backpack in Albatross Way in Hatfield.
Officers searched the area but no suspects or weapons were found.
