A man has died after a crash on the A1 by Borehamwood.
Police say a blue Peugeot 306 left the carriageway on the A1 Barnet bypass and hit a tree shortly after 4am this morning (May 6).
Paramedics attempted to save the driver, who is in his 20s, but he died at the scene.
According to Hertfordshire Constabulary, his next of kin has been informed.
The major road was closed northbound this morning from Stirling Corner towards the junction with the M25.

Closures have been put in place at Stirling Corner, Elstree Way and Ripon Way.

Detective Constable David Burstow said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.
“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around the collision and I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or who may have seen the vehicle travelling in the area prior to it, to please get in touch.”
