A wedding ring belonging to a woman's late husband has been stolen from a home in Borehamwood.
The platinum ring was in a safe that also contained jewellery and watches.
Police say thousands of pounds was also stolen from the property in Stanley Gardens along with a Playstation 5, Dell laptop, and hair straighteners.
The break-in, which is in the Organ Hall Road area of the town, happened between 9.45am and 12.20pm on Tuesday March 15.
Police say the home was ransacked after whoever broke in smashed through a rear door of the property.
Detectives are investigating the burglary and are appealing for information.
Detective Constable Gemma Haines said: "Not only has the victim suffered the ordeal of her home being broken into, but she has now lost such very special items belonging to her late husband.
"I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or anyone with information to get in touch. This includes those who think they might have seen the stolen items or anyone who saw suspicious activity around the time of the burglary.
"I would also like to make a specific plea to the public to look out for the stolen wedding ring. It is a plain platinum ring however it is engraved with the victim and her husband’s names with the date 05/12/2009.
"Please get in touch if you think you have seen it."
