A group of talented students at Haberdashers' Girls' School are celebrating success after they took part in a competition.
The pupils from the school in Elstree competed in an M5 Physics Tournament in London against 11 other schools from across the region.
The girls were able to apply their mathematical, teamwork and quick-thinking skills to win a challenging calculations race.
As well as winning the race, the Year 10 students took part in three different activities over the course of the day event, including a practical experiment where they learned to plan and adapt their methods, and an escape room, a timed challenged where they solved physics-based puzzles to unlock boxes, in order to obtain a password to escape the lab.
Headmistress Rose Hardy said: "Our students thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the tournament, working together as a team and developing their scientific and mathematical skills in a fun and exciting way.
"We are passionate about giving our young people every opportunity in the sciences as well as encouraging more girls to study sciences at a higher level. Of course, there is still so much more we can do to encourage our future generations of women to take up subjects like physics, and we are looking forward to hosting and participating in more STEM events in the future."
