A clothes and food bank that aims to particularly help babies and young children has been congratulated.
Sebby’s Corner was set up in January 2021 by Bianca Sakol and is named in memory of her brother Sebby who helped her set up a clothes donation organisation at foodbank, Gratitude, when she struggled to donate old children’s clothes.
Bianca now runs Sebby’s Corner in Borehamwood full time alongside a team of volunteers and her organisation was awarded a Points of Light award in October 2021 in recognition of her contribution to the local community.
Two months earlier, Sebby’s Corner worked with Rabbi Feldman of Bushey United Synagogue to help distribute clothes and essential items to 3,000 Afghan refugee families in the South East.
Last month, Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden visited Sebby's Corner to take a look around and speak to those involved.
After his visit, he said: "It was great to visit Sebby’s Corner in Borehamwood to see all the good work Bianca Sakol has been doing over the past year to support young families.
"They have donated clothes, food and toiletries to thousands of vulnerable families and it has been great to see our local community being so supportive of their efforts."
He added: "They told me the things they always need more of are baby formula, toiletries and nappies and if anyone would like to donate they can at www.sebbyscorner.co.uk/donate."
