Supermarket firm Lidl has confirmed that construction has begun on its new store at Borehamwood Shopping Park.
The budget chain is moving across the shopping park from its current home into a larger space that was formerly Debenhams.
The sales area will be 1,407 metres squared which Lidl says will provide customers with an even bigger range of its products.
Lidl is working with construction firm 7Formation to develop the store which will retain existing employees from the current retail park store as well as creating around 10 new jobs when opened.
The fit-out works are expected to take five months, with a view to opening in spring 2022.
Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Mike Devine, said: "We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far, and we would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding as we enter this next phase of development.
"It is great for us to be able to invest in Borehamwood and redevelop a key site whilst delivering an even greater range and an enhanced customer experience to even more of the local community that meets all their needs."
