A cannabis factory has been discovered and dismantled by police at a house in Borehamwood.

Around 300 plants were uncovered within the property in Clydesdale Close, on the Farriers Way estate, yesterday morning (June 24).

Police say the cannabis plants had an estimated street value of £150,000.

One man has been arrested in connection with the discovery.

Sergeant Matt Cann said: "Acting on intelligence from the public, officers from the Borehamwood Safer Neighbourhood Team and Operation Scorpion attended the address and discovered a significant number of cannabis plants.

"The factory has since been dismantled and the cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £150,000 will be destroyed.

"Cannabis factories are often linked to the exploitation of society’s most vulnerable and they can pose a fire risk to neighbouring properties. As part of our safety checks the fire service and the electricity board also attended the property yesterday.

"This cannabis factory was discovered thanks to information from the public and has prevented thousands of pounds worth of drugs from reaching the streets. You can play your part in the fight against drugs by sharing information with us so that we can take action."

  • A 20-year-old man from Borehamwood has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a controlled drug. He remains in police custody at this time.
