Hertsmere Borough Council has welcomed the delivery of five cleaner, more efficient waste and recycling vehicles.
The new kerbside waste and recycling collection vehicles have been in service across the borough since Monday June 14.
The council says the new vehicles offer enhanced performance, reduced emissions and improved fuel economy compared to the vehicles they are replacing.
Council leader Morris Bright said: "It is great to see the new vehicles out and about in Hertsmere. They will be a positive addition to our waste and recycling service as they are cleaner and more efficient, meeting Euro 6 Emissions Standards compliance. The purpose of these measures is to combat the risks to human health and the environment due to vehicle pollution.
"We want to provide an efficient, clean and green service. Getting the right vehicles is part of this.
"Residents can help by reducing the amount of waste they produce, reusing what they can and recycling what they can’t. Use sites such as Freecycle or Gumtree to rehome your unwanted items. Remember to sort your waste and use your food, garden and dry recycling brown bin.”
There will be no change to collection days.
