- A police helicopter was spotted circling over the town earlier this afternoon, while there were reports of police cars and ambulances in Leeming Road.

- Officers, possibly armed, were also seen in other parts of Borehamwood, such as in the town centre, while an incident was unfolding in Leeming Road.

- There has also been a police presence in Gateshead Road, close to the junction of Aycliffe Road, with a forensics van on the scene.

- There is no suggestion at this stage the incidents in Gateshead Road and Leeming Road are linked.

- Both the East of England Ambulance Service and Hertfordshire Constabulary have been approached for details about what happened.

- A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they could not comment on why paramedics were called to Leeming Road as it was a police-led incident.

- By 4pm, emergency services had left Leeming Road but a small police presence remained in Gateshead Road.
