A supermarket depot is being demolished and replaced by warehouses.
Panattoni, Europe's largest developer of logistics facilities, has brought the Sainsbury's distribution centre site in York Way, off Elstree Way, Borehamwood.
The 17-acre site was acquired last year and Panattoni plans to turn the depot into several industrial units ranging from 35,000 sq.ft to 130,000 sq.ft.
The first phase of buildings will be available from the end of 2020.
Sainsbury's has relocated its frozen food logistics to Northampton.
Tony Watkins, development director at Panattoni, said: "Borehamwood being only 12 miles north of Central London and two-and-a-half miles from the M25, represents a rare opportunity for occupiers to service a number of key affluent catchments and will likely appeal to the fast growth urban logistics market.”
