School pupils have unveiled a special art exhibit which pay tribute to the school’s alumni who have lost their lives at war.

Edge Grove, in Aldenham, has installed several personalised wooden crosses which have been planted into the ground, each displaying the names of those who will be remembered for their courage and bravery.

The exhibit also pays tribute to staff and pupils at Edge Grove and their relatives who have also lost their lives in battle.

All pupils at the independent school were tasked with making their own ceramic poppies which have been crafted, decorated, and then scattered amongst the crosses.

Parents and members of the community came together at the school on November 20 for the unveiling.

Ben Evans, headmaster at Edge Grove school, said: “This is a proud moment for the school, we wanted to do something special that would inspire conversation in the pupil body not just about remembrance but also about peace.

“Learning about pupils from years gone by who led a very different life to those today and to give thanks for the sacrifice they and many others made is really important for our heritage and the local community too.”
