A beacon will be lit this Remembrance Sunday to honour those who lost their lives whilst protecting their country.
People are invited to Woodcock Hill in Borehamwood from 6.45pm on Sunday as the whole country prepares to pay its respects, 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Battle’s Over is a series of events taking place nationwide, including in Borehamwood.
The beacon will be lit at 7pm.
The Last Post will be sounded by Andrew Grady of Borehamwood Brass before George MacGregor plays a specially commissioned piece of music The Battle’s Over.
The event has been organised by Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council and Woodcock Hill Village Green Committee.
Earlier in the day, a service will be held at the Borehamwood War Memorial opposite Elstree Studios. It will take place at 11am.
As part of the service, Maxine Steinberg from Borehamwood Rox will place rocks around the memorial. They have painted more than 80 honouring each soldier that is listed on the memorial.
