A father-of-six is in an induced coma after he was hit by a car while in Thailand.
Mark Haley, 55, from Borehamwood, was travelling on a moped yesterday in Hua Hin, Phetchaburi, when he was struck from behind by a car.
He has suffered a fractured spine, fractured pelvis, broken ribs, and a collapsed right lung.
Mark, who lives in Potters Bar, has been taken to a hospital but needs to be taken to Bangkok, 200km away, for urgent medical treatment.
He has been in Thailand on holiday for three weeks visiting friends but took out no travel insurance for the trip. The hospital he is currently at does not provide the treatment that he needs.

Hia family found out about the incident from Mark's friends in Thailand. They have been told that he needs to get a helicopter to Bangkok as the road surfaces are too poor and have been told this will cost nearly £5,000.
They have also been told his initial medical treatment that he needs will cost over £20,000.
Mark remains in an induced coma in Phetchaburi. He is in a stable but critical condition, in intensive care, on a ventilator. His family say his overnight stay has already cost £9,000.
His daughter Rebecca Sprenger, from Borehamwood, says she has contacted the Thai Embassy in London.
His sister, Lesley Fifield, has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise enough money to help her brother.
She wrote: "Apart from your thoughts and prayers, at this point in time, this fundraising effort is the best way you can help Mark. Anything you can give will help to alleviate some of the financial pressure that has inevitably resulted from this tragic accident."
