Maxwell Park Centre (pictured) was donated and paid for by Ivor Bayley.
Mike Lewis, who was the leader at that time, called for volunteers to help complete the building.
I was one of the MGM carpenters who volunteered in gratitude to Ivor Bayley and to benefit local youths.
I hung the front doors, Bert Carnell built the bar and Dick Brown did the interior fittings.
We always understood it to be a private arrangement for the benefit of youths.
The centre has been a godsend and used to capacity, so leave it alone.
