I am a committee member of Elstree and Borehamwood Residents Association.
In the past 18 months, I have done a petition to keep the Ark Theatre in the town. I spent three weeks up at the recycling centre to keep it open (and we did), got 500 consultatiom forms filled in and 80 petition signatures to keep our local buses.
I have managed to put pressure on to get the three disabled parking spaces redone in Clarendon Road car park and over the past three years, have managed to get most potholes filled in.
I wanted to stand as an independent last year, but our constitution would not allow it, so I was told I would get the support of UKIP. I joined, but UKIP has not been involved with any of the above.
I was asked by Richard Butler if I would like to stand for Labour for the town council in Brookmeadow.
I said if you like.
I went to tell UKIP chairman Frank Ward what Richard had said and he suspended me right there and then and I had not even said I would definitely stand. I could not now stand for UKIP and he was not putting anyone up for town council anyway, so I said yes to Richard.
I have never said a bad word about anyone from any party. I treat everyone the same. I do not want to get involved in point-scoring. I only care about local issues.
