Many local people have contacted us to express growing concern about local transport and traffic issues. Despite raising council tax, Hertfordshire County Council is planning to cut critical bus services that often provide a lifeline to the elderly and vulnerable. Local commuters are reliant on the overpriced and underperforming Thameslink franchise. Driving round Borehamwood can be a nightmare, yet building plans will bring thousands more cars onto our gridlocked roads.
It is time for our local councils to work together to address these problems more effectively.
We want to see funds for critical transport services ring-fenced with new investment and improved management. We want to see better support and new resources for the local transport forum. Our borough council must stop passing the buck and hold the operators to account. We want to see decisive action on congestion and parking, a full review and funds from developers invested into solving this problem.
