For once, I must support the local council in there decision to allow the building of the sports complex on what some people consider to be green belt land.
For many years, the site was the sports and social club of Elliots, which burnt down and is now used as a lorry park – more a brown field than green field site. We also used to have a sports centre on the other side of the A1, which has stood abandoned for around 40 years. So I welcome this addition to our growing town.
We need these facilities to support our ever-growing town or someone else will get the investment.
