Shenley Village powered to a superb 161-run victory against league leaders Waltham Cross Rosedale in Saracens Herts Division Three.
Batting first, the home side quickly recovered from the early loss of newly-appointed captain Jemile Al-Darraji, with fellow opener Baqar Rizvi making 44.
Solid middle-order batting (Ryan Hammill unbeaten on 67 and Liam Willingham making an entertaining 32), helped them to amass a respectable total of 211-6 off 53 overs.
Somewhat against the form book, with Shenley beginning the day requiring the win to move towards the safer reaches of the table, the home side did not disappoint.
Spinner Rizvi took advantage of the unexpectedly warm and sunny afternoon, taking an outstanding seven wickets for just 21 runs, making him the man of the match and helping to dismiss Waltham Cross for just 50 runs.
Having collected maximum points for the win, Shenley have given themselves an outside chance of promotion. They continue their campaign on Saturday when they travel to Cavendish for a 1pm start.
