A MOTORIST accused of causing the death of a Borehamwood cyclist has been found not guilty this afternoon.
Zoe Sheldrake, 31, was killed after being hit by Clive Sanford's black Audi on the northbound stretch of the A41 Edgware Way, close to junction 4 of the M1, early on April 26 last year.
Jurors deliberated for more than six hours at Wood Green Crown Court today before acquitting Mr Sanford of causing her death by careless driving in a majority verdict.
Mr Sanford – who had denied the charge – cried as the verdict was announced, while members of Ms Sheldrake's family screamed and shouted in the courtroom, labelling the decision “disgusting”.
The self-employed massage therapist was training to become a personal fitness instructor at Stanmore College when she died.
Born in January 1979 in London, she lived in Old Street until she was two years old before her parents Bob and Sandra moved to Borehamwood.
