All passengers and a bus driver were safely evacuated from a bus fire this morning.
A blaze broke out on a 602 Uno bus in Radlett Lane, Shenley, at around 7.15am.
A photo taken at the scene showed the back of a bus in flames and an image in the aftermath shows the rear of the vehicle destroyed as well as some of the windows.
The bus appeared to have been manoeuvred into a ditch at the side of the road but fortunately there were no reports of any injuries.
A passer-by snapped the 602 bus in flames as a bus travelling in the opposite direction is stalled by the fire.
Police remained at the scene to allow the bus to be recovered.
Recovery has since been completed and the road is back open again.
Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue sent crews from Borehamwood and St Albans to tackle the blaze and the service said the fire is being treated as accidental.
Radlett Lane was closed between Porters Park Drive and Faggots Close.
The fire caused severe delays for people travelling to work and school this morning.
Harper Lane, Black Lion Hill, and Shenley Lane were all gridlocked but delays have now cleared.
